About CC Sabathia:
Left-hander Carsten Charles Sabathia, known professionally as CC, was a tremendous presence on the mound. At 6-6, 300 pounds, Sabathia enjoyed parts of 19 seasons as a big league starter. Drafted out of Vallejo High School in California by the Cleveland Indians in the 1st round in 1998, Sabathia was given a $1.3 million signing bonus by Cleveland. Sabathia, turns 44 July 21. Next year, he could be inducted to the Hall of Fame on, or near his birthday.
Sabathia pitched parts of three seasons in the Indians minor league program before he made his big league debut April 8, 2001. Sabathia won the Cy Young Award with Cleveland in 2007. He started 34 games that year, and finished with a 19-7 record. Sabathia made three All Star teams with Cleveland. In his final year before becoming a free agent, the Indians traded CC to the Milwaukee Brewers in July 2006.Sabathia pitched only one year for the Brewers, but he was a major force in the club going all the way to the National League Division Series.
Sabathia left the Brewers as a free agent, signing with the New York Yankees in December 2008.
